Washington, Pennsylvania is a small community with a rich history. Located in the southwestern part of the state, Washington is considered a part of the Pittsburgh Metro Area.
Founded in 1781 and officially named for President George Washington, this city has been the County Seat for Washington County since its inception. In 1791, the first rebellion against the newly founded U.S. government and constitution began here. Known as the Whiskey Rebellion, the people were enraged about a new tax that was imposed on whiskey distillers of the area. One of the leaders of the rebellion, David Bradford, remains an important figure in the city. His home has been converted into a beautiful museum in the downtown area.
