A Step by Step Guide to Planning Your Dream Vacation

If you want to have the perfect vacation, you have to do some planning. There are many factors that must be considered when making your plans. Here are the steps that you must take if you want to experience your dream vacation.

Choosing the Right Destination

Where are you going to go? This is obviously the first thing you must decide. Your choice will depend on a few issues, such as your budget, who you are taking with you and what kind of environment you most enjoy.

Do you prefer exploring a lively city or kicking back on the beach? Do you want to go far away, or stay close to home? Are you taking any kids? When you answer these questions, you can more easily plan your trip.

How Long Will Your Vacation Be?

Will you be going away for a weekend, a week, two weeks or the whole summer? This will determine what you must bring and how thoroughly you have to prepare. However long you will be away, make sure you bring enough (and the right) clothing and any accessories or supplies you might need.

Where Will You Be Staying?

Will you be staying at a hotel, a bed and breakfast or a cabin that you’re renting? This is another important consideration. A related question is, will you be cooking your own meals or mainly eating out? Either way, you should research the area and locate stores and restaurants that you are likely to patronize.

How Will You be Getting Around?

Transportation is always an issue. If you’re staying in a city, will you be renting a car or relying on walking and public transportation? If your main concern is getting from the airport to your hotel, you don’t necessarily need a car for this. If, for example, you are flying into LAX, you could always take a Los Angeles cab to your hotel. At some point, however, you may wish to rent a car.

Plan Your Vacation Well in Advance

The more thoroughly you plan your vacation, the more likely it is that you will be able to arrange everything the way you want. Start off by taking into account your budget and preferences and then do some research to find out where you can find the best value.

A vacation should be a time to relax and enjoy yourself. To get the most out it, however, you have to plan ahead.

Tourism – Getting Around To Those Fabulous Sites And Events

Getting around any place you vacation takes some planning and expectation for the unexpected. Being a tourist involves getting to those great sites or events in which you are interested. It can certainly be kind of tricky. Tourism is major for many cities and there are ways to get around.

You have several options for getting around. These include:

  • Renting a car
  • Taking city transportation
  • Tour guides
  • Walking
  • Using taxicabs

Car Rental

Now, depending on where the events or sites are located, you can choose what is simplest. Obviously, renting a car gives you total control over your time and getting to where you want to go. Budgetary issues can make car rental a challenge or not knowing the city. However, other options are available.

You can also plan car rental for specific days. If the activity plans for the day include a full day, this may certainly be the best route to take. Depending on where you stay, a car rental may be the only option if the place is secluded or on the outskirts of the city.

Public Transportation

You can take public transportation. This means making yourself knowledgeable about the system. Find out what buses take you where, the cost as well as where the boarding places are. Public transportation also allows you to see the city because you take in sites and surrounding areas while someone else does the driving.

The Chamber of Commerce typically has this visitor information for most cities. If not, there are other organizations that have it. Do the research while you plan your vacation. This alleviates the anxiety when you arrive.

Another thing to consider is if children are included in the trip. Public transportation and tour guides add excitement while allowing you the opportunity to make the trip a delightful family experience.

Tour Guides

Tour buses are available in most cities. Depending on where you choose to stay, the hotel may sponsor the pick-up of tourists for highlighted sites and events in the city. You can also make specific tour arrangements if you have interests other than those obvious to your vacationing place.

Not only is this good exercise, it can be an exciting time for all involved. If the event or site is in walking distance of your hotel, you can have a great time exploring the immediate surroundings.

Taxicabs are expensive. There is no way around this. However, you can use this option when you have special night events. A night at the opera or dinner and dancing are events that make the expense well worth it. This information can be found out while researching your vacation site.
A very important part of tourism is researching the city where you are going. The best mode of transportation can certainly depend on where you are located and the sites you want to see. It can also depend on the events you have scheduled. The really beneficial part of planning how you get around as a tourist is getting the most enjoyment out of where you are going.

5 Tips For Finding The Best Summer Vacation Deals

vacation planning online

Summer is quickly approaching, so now is the time to start hunting the best hotel deals for your next vacation. Because money is still pretty tight for most of us, being able to find great deals is the best way to make sure that you actually can take that vacation you’ve needed. To help you, here are a few things you can do to find the best bargains without breaking the bank. Be warned that it make take some time, but in the end it will be well worth it once you feel relaxed and well rested.

Do Your Research

The first (and most time consuming part) will be hunting down deals.  Don’t run out to a travel agent right away – instead, start by checking online for bargains.

Do not book anything just yet. You are only at the beginning of your research, and the point of this exercise is to see what kind of prices are out there for your current locations of interest.

Look for the Latest Big Events

Do a quick look into places that recently hosted large events, such as international conferences or huge sporting events. Many of these locations were overpriced during the event and are now suffering from lack of interest, meaning they will be cutting much better deals. If any of these places are locations you would like to visit, now could be the perfect time.

Find out Where Vacations are Off Season

Much like big events, many travel destinations have on and off season times. Vacation spots that are off season will have drastically reduced prices to try to persuade more people to visit. If you want privacy and quiet, these will be ideal places for relaxing.

Look for Newly Refurbished or Reopened Hotels

It usually takes a while to get the word out that a hotel is back in business, or is newly opened. If you can find one of these gems in your destination of choice, you will get some of the best service as they try to make a great first impression to get better online ratings.

Setup Email Notifications

If you still aren’t sold on any one place or hotel, spend some time setting up email alerts and information to be delivered right to your inbox. While you should always put in a good bit of time on the planning sometimes it just isn’t the right time when you are looking. With notifications, you will be able to quickly see when your desired locations have the best flight and hotel deals.

Summer is quickly approaching so get started now and take advantage of the many deals available!

Budget Vacations are All the Rage

Budget Vacations

In the past, those who went on vacations were typically driven by the desire to visit that particular location, but now it is much more common for someone to book vacation packages based on the price, not the place. In fact, there is a whole segment of travelers in the United States that will go anywhere for a vacation—if the price is right. Traveling on a tight budget is not as unattainable as it may seem, and in fact, many people are getting amazing deals on their trips. Knowing when to buy, having flexibility in your schedule, and a passion for traveling will all contribute to being able to travel for pennies in comparison to what other people pay for their vacations.

If the Time is Right

How does this sound: a four-night cruise to Mexico and two nights in a hotel in Miami for less than $300. It sounds crazy, but that is the exact deal one girl from New York was able to snag, according to the Huffington Post. Jessie Purton took advantage of bad timing for the cruise industry that equated to awesome deals for their customers. She and her friends booked that trip just after the cruise ship Costa Concordia sunk, according to the Huffington Post report.

The one thing that made this such a good deal was her timing. The company that owned the boat that capsized off the coast of Italy was afraid that all the press would negatively impact its business, so they dropped their prices as low as they could to keep people booking their ships. Purton took advantage of this opportunity by immediately getting on her phone and booking the trip.

How Many PTO Days?

The one requirement when it comes to traveling for cheap is that you sometimes need to be flexible, and available to leave on a trip with a day’s notice, maybe even less. Getting the greatest deals means always being on the lookout for last-minute package deals and drops in prices and immediately being able to take advantage of that deal. You do not want to get an awesome vacation planned only to find that you cannot get the time off of work.

Luckily, many of the best deals come in the off-season travel times so there will not be as many people going on vacation at the same time as you.

See the World

Of course if you are going to jump on vacation packages at the best prices possible, the destination shouldn’t be as important as the experience. If you are picky about where you are willing to travel to, it will be more difficult for you to find a vacation deal that fits those parameters. Be open, and you will be well on your way to seeing the world in no time.
